the Knights, but his name never appeared in the credits.
The Robert Cray Band released their first album in 1980 and began touring the U.S. and Europe where he gained recognition for being able to command audiences with his guitar-work in live performances. The band signed with Mercury Records in 1986 and released their fourth album, Strong Persuader, winning a Grammy Award for his crossover hit song named "Smokin' Gun." The song gave him a wider appeal and recognition from a much larger audience of mainstream rock and roll fans.
Cray played in concert with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan and Stevie Ray Vaughan on August 27th, 1990 in East Troy, Wisconsin. It was Stevie Ray Vaughan's final performance before he died in a helicopter crash later that night.
Robert Cray has won five Grammy Awards total and he was inducted to the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011.
"I'm Done Crying" is a song written by Cray and is the emotional and philosophical centerpiece for his 16th album, Nothin' But Love released in 2012. Cray plays Twelve-o-Clock blues on Fender Strats like no one else and this time he paints a searing, contemporary portrait is of a male protagonist who has lost his home and his job to outsourcing but retains his dignity "because I'm still a man."

"I'm Done Crying"
Lyrics
I begged for mercy
Called out in pain
No one seemed to hear me
It's like I don't have a name
I'm done crying
I've got no more tears
You can't hurt me anymore
At least now I know where I stand
You won't take away my dignity
Cause I am still a man
I used to have a job
But they shut it down
Put the blame on the union (like they always do)
And now it's some fore in town
I am done crying
I 've got no more tears
You can't use me anymore
At least now I know where I stand
But you won't take away my dignity
Cause I am still a man
They took the house
When I lost my job
Left us out in the street (yes they did)
What you picked us the wrong
I am done crying
I've got no more tears
I can't give you anymore money
At least now I know where I stand
You can't take away my dignity
Cause I am still a man
I am a man
And it's always so much a man can give up
So it's so much, so much a man can lose
When all the odds all the odds stand up against you
I am done crying
I have got no more tears
You can't use me anymore
At least now I know where I stand
You won't take away my dignity
Cause I am still a man
I am done crying
I have got no more tears
You can't hurt me anymore
At least now I know where I stand
You won't take away my dignity
Cause I'm still a man
I'm still a man
Still a man
You know I don't have a chance
Still a man
Still a man
